Irina Shatalova, Mother, Doula, Guide
My Story
Hello, my name is Irina. I am a mother of six and a trained birth doula serving the Seattle area. My own experience through motherhood has given me a deep love for supporting women during pregnancy, birth, and the newborn season.
Originally from Russia, I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and moved to the United States in 2010. I speak both English and Russian and enjoy supporting families from different cultural backgrounds, including families in our local Slavic and English-speaking church community.
My goal is to help you feel calm, confident, and cared for during one of the most meaningful moments of your life. I provide emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and early postpartum.
Like the forsythia that blooms before spring fully arrives, I believe every mother carries the strength to unfold beautifully, even before she can see what's ahead.

Why a Doula
A doula is a trained birth companion who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, birth, and early postpartum. As your doula, I don't replace your medical providers or do clinical tasks. Instead, I support you and your family with comfort, encouragement, and a steady presence.
The word "doula" comes from Greek, often understood as a woman who serves.
A calm, steady presence through every wave of emotion, so you never feel alone in the most transformative moments of your life.
Together we build your confidence with knowledge, comfort measures, and a birth plan that reflects your unique wishes and values.
I help you communicate your needs and navigate decisions with clarity, ensuring your voice is heard and your choices are honored.
Every mother deserves to feel truly seen. I create a space where your feelings, fears, and hopes are all welcomed with compassion.

My Approach
I bring a calm, peaceful energy to every moment, so you can breathe, trust, and just be in the experience.
Your birth is unique, and your support should be too. Every plan we create together is tailored to your wishes, your body, and your heart.
As a mom of six, I don't just know birth from a textbook. I've lived it, breathed it, and been changed by it.
I speak both English and Russian, creating a space of comfort and clarity for every mother I serve.
If you welcome it, I offer gentle, faith-filled encouragement, always with deep respect for your personal beliefs.
